Qui van Woerdekom

 

Qui van Woerdekom (1940) belongs to the leading Dutch violin pedagogues. He studied violin with Bouw Lemkes and Nap de Klijn and orchestral conducting with Louis Stotijn at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

In 1963, already during his education, he was appointed as professor at this institute. He was as violin teacher responsible for the Young Talent Class.

Qui van Woerdekom is a specialist in violin methodology. For over 35 years he was professor of violin methodology, performance practise and ensemble coaching to the postgraduates in The Hague as well in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht.

Qui van Woerdekom has also been active as conductor. He conducted several youth orchestras and conservatory orchestras. With the string orchestra of the conservatoire in The Hague, the Atheneum Kamer Orkest, he made several tours abroad, radio and TV registrations and CD's.

Nowadays he gives workshops, masterclasses and lectures and is regularly member of the jury at competitions. Since 2002 he developped the DVD project about his violin methodolog
