Part 1 Basic information & technique for beginners
Intro
A short introduction explains the structure of the series.
Views
The development of an own view on violin playing is encouraged showing illustrations and good and bad ways of playing the violin.
Posture and relaxation
Some basic knowledge of posture and relaxation is essential when teaching the violin. Some simple exercises are being demonstrated.
Testing
The elements of a small "entrance-test" are offered using examples. The disposition is also dealt with.
First Lessons
All elements of the first lessons come across. They are dealt with using 'practice-children'.
Part 1B. Technique for beginners
Pre-elementary right
The first use of the bow is prepared working towards the basic bow hold. The next phase – the very first bow - has its own preparation.
Pre-elementary left
This chapter works towards the first intonation. It is important to train all the preparatory stages to reach the best results.
Own practice models
During this phase of education, each student works independently with his or her practice model. The results will be shown in class. Recordings from previous years are showed and discussed on the DVD.
Elementary right
Short and longer motifs are played by heart and again and again. Complications should be avoided. Longer bowing exercises can be played from sheet music.
Elementary left
The rules of restricting of the first pizzicato melodies are dealt with.
First combination left / right
The first bowed melodies should be really simple. Great attention for left and right hand separated assures a pretty stable basic hand hold.
